What indicates widowhood in a female horoscope?

The 8th house in a woman's horoscope is called mangalya sthana, signifying marital bond. Widowhood is consequently deduced from this very house. The 8th house from the Moon or the Ascendant, whichever is stronger, should be considered for this purpose. More than one malefic influences on the 8th house can cut the marriage short.

Mars placed in the 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house, without any influence from a benefic, can make a woman widow. This particular widowhood yoga equally applies to a male's horoscope.
